A motor protection circuit breaker (MPCB), also called a manual motor protector, combines adjustable overload protection with instantaneous short-circuit protection in a single device sized for a motor branch circuit. It differs from a general purpose circuit breaker, which is rated for cable and distribution protection rather than motor full-load current.
